Getting Started
Sign in with Yahoo or ESPN
Tap Login with Yahoo or Login with ESPN on the home screen. You'll be redirected to Yahoo or ESPN to authorize Hooply — this is a secure OAuth connection and Hooply never sees your password.
Your leagues load automatically
Once signed in, all your active fantasy basketball leagues appear. Tap any league to select it as your active league — all analyses will run against that league's real data.
Switching leagues
Tap the league name in the top bar of any screen to open the league picker. Select a different league and all data refreshes automatically.
Running an analysis
- Go to the Analysis tab.
- Pick a tool from the grid.
- Some tools prompt for extra input (e.g. which trade to evaluate, which opponent to scout).
- Tap Run Analysis — results stream in within a few seconds.
Every result is saved automatically. Revisit past analyses any time from the History section on the Home tab.
Analysis Tools (16 total)
Every tool uses your real league data — your actual roster, matchup, waiver wire, and standings. Not generic advice. Tools are split into two tiers:
- 7 AI Strategy Tools — always free. The algorithm runs first, then AI curates the 1–3 best results and writes a plain-English summary.
- 9 Core Tools — purely algorithmic. You get 2 free per day; after that they cost 1 Dime each.
7 AI Strategy Tools — Always Free
Each tool runs a full algorithm first, then sends the key results to AI. The AI narrows to the 1–3 best results, filters what shows in the UI, and writes a 2–3 sentence summary explaining exactly what to do. If AI is ever unavailable, the full algorithmic list shows with a template summary — zero disruption.
Trade Ideas
FreeScans every opponent roster and computes all viable trade proposals with grade impact per category. Fetches injury data for all players involved. AI selects the 1–3 fairest trades (skips lopsided deals no one would accept), factors in injury risk, and explains which weak categories each trade fixes.
Streaming Picks
FreeRanks all free agents by games this week multiplied by category fit vs. your weak categories. Scores drop candidates and pulls injury status. AI selects the 1–3 best streaming adds, names each player, their game count, which weak categories they fill, and who to drop.
Buy Low / Sell High
FreeFlags every rostered player whose recent trend diverges from their overall grade, with injury data for each. AI selects the 1–3 most mispriced players and explains each — slump recovery, injury return boosting value, or hot streak masking decline.
Punt Master
FreeAnalyzes all 9 categories with punt difficulty scores, rank data, projected gains, and target free agent pickups per category. AI recommends the 1–3 best categories to punt, explains what you gain by abandoning each, and names specific players to target.
Category Sniper
FreePick one stat to dominate. Scores all free agents with full stat lines for that category, identifies drop candidates, and pulls injury data. AI selects the 1–3 best pickups, highlights standout stats, names who to drop, and flags returning injured players as hidden gems.
League Projections
FreeProjects every team's final seed, playoff odds, and all category forecasts with rank deltas over time. AI writes a sports-columnist narrative — your team's arc (rising, fading, stuck), the biggest category swings, and one bold move to change your fate.
What-If Simulator
FreeSimulate a trade, waiver pickup, or lineup swap with per-category before/after impact, projected standings shift, and full injury profiles. AI gives an opinionated verdict — pull the trigger, walk away, or counter — naming players, biggest category swings, seed impact, and injury risk.
9 Core Tools
These are purely algorithmic — no AI narrator, no AI curation. You get 2 free analyses per day; after that each costs 1 Dime.
Roster Analysis
Full 9-category breakdown of your team. Grades every player (overall + team fit), identifies your strongest and weakest categories, and computes a weighted roster grade from 50–100.
Waiver Wire
Top 10 free agents ranked by overall grade and team fit. Includes drop candidate recommendations so you know who to cut for each pickup.
Trade Evaluator
Plug in any trade — who you give and who you receive. Get a letter grade, category-by-category impact analysis, and a clear accept or reject verdict.
Matchup Preview
H2HHead-to-head category edges and win determination per category. Shows your projected value vs. opponent's with lead/trail counts.
Sit / Start
H2HPer-player start/bench verdicts based on weekly form, monthly trends, injury status, matchup difficulty (easy/med/hard), and game count this week.
H2H Games Analyzer
H2HGame counts for your roster vs. your opponent's this week. Flags back-to-backs and identifies streaming opportunities by schedule advantage.
H2H Win Odds
H2HPer-category win probability against your current matchup opponent, based on season averages and recent form. Identifies toss-up categories within the margin.
Rival Analysis
Select any opponent. Grades their entire roster using your team's weak categories as the fit metric, computes their roster grade, and identifies the top 3 trade targets who are strong where you're weak.
Roto Sit / Start
RotoLineup optimizer for roto leagues. Uses season-long category value accumulation, weekly game counts, injury status, and recent form — no weekly opponent needed.
H2H only — Matchup Preview, Sit/Start, H2H Games Analyzer, and H2H Win Odds are only available for Head-to-Head leagues.
Roto only — Roto Sit/Start is only available for Rotisserie leagues.
Player Grades & Projections
Every analysis that involves individual players shows player grade cards. Here's how they work:
Overall Grade (50–100)
Every NBA player gets a grade from 50 to 100, recalculated daily. The grade measures overall fantasy value across all 9 categories, with scoring and counting stats weighted more heavily than efficiency — so real fantasy impact drives the number.
Grades blend season-long performance with recent form and forward projections. A short slump won't tank a player's grade overnight, but a genuine breakout gets picked up fast.
Team Fit Grade
A separate grade showing how well a player fills your roster's weak spots. A player who's elite in the categories your team needs most will score a high fit grade — even if their overall grade is average.
Projected Stats
Each player card shows two stat views you can toggle between:
- Season — full-season per-game averages
- Projected — forward-looking projections that weigh recent form, so you can spot trends early
Stat values are color-coded green (improving) or red (declining) compared to season averages. Expand a card to see a full side-by-side comparison table.
Monte Carlo Simulations
Every player's projections are powered by thousands of Monte Carlo simulations using their game logs, injury history, and schedule. The result is a real projected stat line — not a generic ranking.
Breakout & Decline Indicators
Cards with a green pulse border indicate breakout candidates — players trending well above their season averages. A yellow pulse flags declining players trending the opposite direction.
League Explorer
The League tab is your full league command center. Switch between five views using the tab bar at the top:
Standings
Live standings for your league — win-loss record, total points, and current rank for every team.
Matchup
Your current head-to-head matchup with live scores broken down by stat category. Available in H2H leagues only.
Rosters
Browse every team's full roster. Great for scouting trade targets or seeing what players your opponents are holding.
Transactions
The latest adds, drops, trades, and waiver claims across your league. Filter by transaction type (Add/Drop, Trade, Add, Drop) to zero in on specific activity. See what your opponents are chasing.
Draft
Full replay of your league's draft — every pick, in order. Useful for understanding how each team was built.
Player Database
The Players tab gives you a full database of all 300 graded NBA players — searchable, sortable, and filterable in one place.
Search & Filter
Type any player name to search instantly. Filter by position or team to narrow the list. Results update as you type.
Sortable Stat Columns
Tap any column header — overall grade, team fit, PTS, REB, AST, and more — to sort the table ascending or descending. Quickly find the highest-graded players, the best rebounders, or the top fits for your roster.
7-Day Schedule Grid
Each row shows the player's upcoming games for the next 7 days. See at a glance who has favorable schedules, back-to-backs, or rest days coming up — perfect for streaming and sit/start decisions.
Player Detail Modal
Tap any player row to open a detail modal with their full grade card, season and projected stats, category breakdowns, and trend indicators.
Daily Insights
The Home tab shows three automatically refreshed insight cards at the top of the screen:
Latest News
The latest NBA news impacts — injuries, returns, trades, and roster changes that affect fantasy value, plus suggested waiver moves.
Most Added
The players being picked up most frequently across your league right now — a quick pulse on what your opponents are targeting on the wire.
Most Dropped
Players being dropped most often. Useful for spotting emerging bust trends or identifying suddenly available talent your opponents are giving up on.
Tap any insight card to expand it. These refresh automatically — no need to manually trigger them.
